Things have been a bit crazier than usual so I apologize for the lack of posts. I have been thinking about it lots though!

A friend of mine hipped me to THIS LINK regarding YOUNGER JAZZ AUDIENCES that was posted on a blog from NPR.  Check it out, it’s a good little read.

  1. I produce several small-to-mid-sized jazz shows each year. Most are financially marginal and I do it mostly to serve the music and to help the musicians. The audience is generally middle-aged and older. However, I believe there are new attendees every year as they reach middle age. The “mature” concert goer not only has disposable income, they are also looking for mature music which has more complexity or sophistication than from-the-heart rock and country music which they might have enjoyed in younger years. I anticipate that the audience will always be skewed older but that the older audience will continue to be refreshed.
