This has been a nice little ‘pick me up’ for this dreary Monday morning. A fantastic date by Walter Bishop Junior and his trio from Prestige, 1965 featuring Walter Bishop Jr. (p), Butch Warren (b), G.T. Hogan (d) and then Butch Warren (b) and Jimmy Cobb (d)

Great tunes, simple arrangements and super swinging!  What else can you ask for. Check out Things Ain’t What They Used To Be with the latter bass and drums team!

  1. Bish may not have been the most profound pianist to grace the scene but I can’t think of any who swung harder. He was Bird’s main choice for pianist during Yard’s last years.
