A few of the ‘team’ went to the Jazz Record Center, an optional activity and as we have every year, made Fred Cohen’s day. “Its the only time every year we have a lineup to pay,” said Cohen!
Then it was off to Birdland for the Louis Hayes Cannonball Adderly Legacy Band. The band was phenomenal, my food was good…the sound….well, at Birdland the sound is never good and this time was no exception. Having said that, the band make up for it. Vincent Herring on alto sax, Jeremy Pelt on trumpet, Mike LeDonne on piano, Gerald Cannon on bass and of coure THE Louis Hayes on drums.
Then it was off to Showman’s Lounge in Harlem for The Jerry Weldon Trio with Jason Brown on drums and Kyle Kohler on organ. It was fanastic. Jerry is classic in every way and he really swings his ass off!!!
